Biomaster partner Pinpoint has developed a new personal nurse call system to be worn on the wrist.
WristPIT is a bespoke patient call transmitter which allows patients to activate a call even if they are away from their bed or a fixed call-point.
The new product was showcased at the Design in Mental Health exhibition at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry on 21st and 22nd May.
Pinpoint Ltd. is the UK’s leading provider of personal staff attack alarm systems designed for workplaces where staff are at risk of violence.
The company’s renowned PIT technology is usually worn by staff for personal safety but has for the first time been adapted for patient use.
Around 250,000 incidents where patients required assistance in hospital are reported annually. In many cases, nursing staff are unaware that a patient had had a fall for quite some time.
Pressing the clearly labelled call button on the WristPIT notifies the personnel on duty that a patient needs help and informs staff exactly where the patient is. The call button is recessed and surrounded by a bump guard to prevent false alarms.
The wearable device is outstandingly durable. As well as being water-resistant, it can withstand harsh environments and user tampering, meaning suitability for facilities where service users may be at risk of self-harm.
It also has inbuilt Biomaster antimicrobial protection, inhibiting the growth of surface bacteria. The protection is effective 24/7 for the life of the unit.
Pinpoint Alarm systems are installed in thousands of medical facilities throughout the UK and USA. The new WristPIT is backward compatible and easily integrated into existing Pinpoint Systems.
