Biiomaster technology is helping BeaconMedæs, the world’s leading specialist in the design, supply and installation of piped medical gas distribution systems in hospitals, design the next generation of medical gas terminal units.
BeaconMedæs has been manufacturing an increasingly complex array of life support equipment for hospitals for over 60 years and currently operate through local and regional distributors in over 40 countries.
The company’s new GEM Shield Terminal Unit offers improved features and added patient safety. With a curved gas identification ring, the GEM Shield Terminal Unit not only looks more modern, it also incorporates Biomaster antibacterial technology to help reduce cross infection for added patient safety.
It also incorporates a Verimaster safety taggant to enable the user to identify the unit. Verimaster is a covert anti-counterfeit device increasingly used for validation of manufacturing processes – for example, to check that suppliers have used the correct specification.
Andy Tudor, Atlas Copco Medical UK product development manager explains: “With the anti-microbial additive improving patient safety, our GEM Shield Terminal Units meet needs even beyond what we provided with our trusted GEM 10 Installations.”
The new GEM Shield Terminal Unit features a modernized trim plate that removes dust traps, decreasing the risk of cross infection. The fixing screws can be accessed from the front on the new GEM Shield Terminal Unit, cutting the exchange time by 15 minutes and providing for quick and simple routine maintenance. All GEM terminal units are easily retrofitted onto existing GEM 10 installations.
Addmaster (UK) Ltd. Marketing Manager Karl Shaw adds: “The Gem Shield is a great example of how our two performance additive brands Biomaster and Verimaster can work together to improve customer safety.
Verimaster allows you to check that our antibacterial additive is present in the product as part of a quality control procedure. It means that customers can demonstrate that products are protected as well as verify that the product is genuine – for added security measures and ultimate peace of mind.”
*Please note that Addmaster was acquired by the Polygiene Group AB in January 2021, so all news articles prior to that date will still be branded as Addmaster.
